Pundits of this system argue that you can't lose because eventually you have to have a winning bet, at which point you are ahead right? This is correct, providing 2 things don't occur that are the undoing of many a Martingale player:
1. you reach the table maximum bet before you get chance to win - eg in the example above if the table max bet is $500, then you're in trouble after 7 losses in a row, with no way of covering your losses.
2. you run out of money! You can see from the above table that required bets climb rapidly, so even if the casino offers a big maximum bet, you'll need deep pockets to avoid disaster.

The Grand Martingale

A variation of the Martingale system is the Grand Martingale. It differs in that when a player loses they not only double there bet but they also add an additional bet. So for example if your first $2 bet on red lost your next bet would be doubled to $4 plus an additional bet of $2 so a total of $6. If you lose again your next bet would be double the previous total bet, so for example 6 x 2 is $12 plus an additional bet making a total bet of $14.
The reason players might choose this system is that when you win your actually better off a bet for every round you have played. Different from the original Martingale where you are increasing your bets just to be one bet better off over the course of a number of rounds.
The disadvantage of this system is that it you can double up less often before you hit the casino limits.
Therefore your more likely to hit a losing streak and lose all your money for that session.

The Anti-Martingale System

The Anti-Martingale system is another variation of of the standard Martingale system which differs in the fact that a player increases there bets when they win and not when they lose. The idea behind this is that when a player is running hot and winning, they win big, but when there luck is low and they are losing then losses are kept to a minimum.
The player needs to decide in advance how many spins they will play the system for and keep doubling up. How many spins is chosen will be entirely dependant on the player. The Gland Martingale System

This is another variation of the standard Martingale system. Although with this particular system you spend alot of time watching the roulette wheel and only placing a few bets.
You can use this system on any of the even money bets, such as red or black. What you do is wait for 5 consecutive results to appear and then place a bet on the following round on the opposite outcome. So for example if 5 reds appear in a row, you then place 1 bet on black. If you win, you then start watching the wheel again and wait for another combination of 5 even bets, maybe 5 evens etc.
However, if you lose the first bet you then double your bet on the next round.

So an example of the D' Alembert system would be if you were just betting $1 units and lost, your next bet would be $2. If you lost again, your following bet would be $3. If on the next betting round you won, your next bet would decrease by one unit and therefore be a $2 bet.
The problem with the system and equilibrium is that any bets you place will be in such a small quantity in relation to the long term equilibrium, which is something that could take millions of bets and still not be exact equilibrium. Fibonacci System

Leonardo Pisano better known as Fibonacci was a mathematician from the middle ages. This system was named after a dice player who used the bet for playing the pass line bet in craps. The aim of the system is to bet a sequence until a one unit bet has been won.

Now, if this 3rd bet wins, your $2 down overall, but because you won you can add 1 unit to your next bet, so you bet $4, if that bet wins its the end of the sequence as you will be $2 up and have achieved your objective of being 1 betting unit better off.Before starting out on this Oscar's Grind system make sure you have a set stop loss maximum bet figure per sequence. The Cuban Betting System

This system was in use pre Fidel Castro in Cuba. Basically a player bets one unit on the third column and another one unit bet on black. The reason for this combination of bets is that there are only 4 black numbers in the third column and 8 red. Therefore if one of the 8 red numbers from the third column comes up you will have won one unit. However if a number from the first or second column comes up there's a higher chance it will be a black number, for which you'll be break even if one of those's comes up.

These bets pay 1to1 just like bets on colours or odd or even. However, this is a one time win or lose system. It has a total of either one or two bets per time.
